☼ Solstice Wassailing☼
Selaesia sings brightly:
"Here we come a-wassailing Among the leaves so green, Here we come a-wand'ring So fair to be seen. Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail, too, And gods bless you, and send you A Happy New Year, And gods send you a Happy New Year." "We are not daily beggers That beg from door to door, But we are neighbors' children Whom you have seen before Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail, too, And gods bless you, and send you A Happy New Year, And gods send you a Happy New Year." "We have a little purse Made of rolton leather skin, We want some of your small change To line it well within. Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail, too, And gods bless you, and send you A Happy New Year, And gods send you a Happy New Year." "Bring us out a table And spread it with a cloth. Bring us out a cheese, And of your Thrakmas loaf. Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail, too, And gods bless you, and send you A Happy New Year, And gods send you a Happy New Year." "Gods bless the master of this house, Likewise the mistress too. And all the little children That round the table go. Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail, too, And gods bless you, and send you A Happy New Year, And gods send you a Happy New Year." Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone:
"When the orc bites..." Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "When the wasp stings..." Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "When I'm feelin' saaaaadd..." Brokkrsten grunts sadly, a small tear forming in the corner of his eye. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "I simply remember my faaavorite things..." Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "An' then I dinnae feeeeeel soooo baaaad!" Brokkrsten dances with Selaesia. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Red poisoned roses And blisters on griffins -" Dwi removes a haon tambourine from in her troll hide backpack. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Dark copper cauldrons and mail covered mittens -" Dwi tests her tambourine with a gentle thump, then raises her head with a smile and begins a rapid beat. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Brown little spiders all tied up with strings, These are a few of my faaavorite things!" Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Assorted fine cheeses and ales by the dozen -" A thunderous belch explodes from Brokkrsten's mouth, filling the air with the stench of rancid cheese. (Enestrie taps in time to Brokk's song.) Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Dark chewy brownies summoned fresh from the oven -" The scent of freshly baked bread emanates from Brokkrsten as he utters a short phrase... There is a bright flash and a thick fudge brownie filled with pieces of walnut appears in the air, then falls into Brokkrsten's left hand. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "A lady elf wizard with lightning she flings -" Brokkrsten flashes a wolfish grin. Brokkrsten peppers Selaesia with tiny kisses all over her face. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "These are a few of my faaaavorite things!" Selaesia blushes a light pink shade at Brokkrsten, the color darkening her whole face! Dwi plays a quick rhythm on her tambourine, her toes tapping along. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Creamed up small kobolds and crisped treekin druids, Deaths in the dozens - And bodily fluids!" Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "A snarling big demon laid flat on his wings, These are a few of my faaavorite thiiings!" Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Girls in white chain mail with blue razor falchions. Snowflakes that make all those big avalanches." Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "Silver-white lightning that melts all the things! These are a few of my favorite things!" Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "When the thief strikes!" Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "When the lich sings!" With small, deft movements of her wrist and arm, Dwi shapes a rapid beat with her tambourine. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "When I'm feelin' maaaaad!" You notice a vein pulsing in Brokkrsten's forehead. Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "I simply remember to Smite all the things," Brokkrsten sings with a rich baritone: "And then I dinnae feeel soooo baaaaaad!!" Brokkrsten bows. Selaesia sings cheerfully:
"Dashing through the snow With that one dwarf Brokkrsten O'er the Trail we go To find the next of kin." Selaesia sings cheerfully: "A giant takes a swing, The corpse had lost the fight. What fun it is to swing and sling With hands that have frostbite!" Selaesia sings cheerfully: "Jingle bells, kobolds smell, Enestrie laid an egg. Oh! what fun it is to fight In a glacial loony bin!" Selaesia sings cheerfully: "Oh! what fun it is to fight In a glaaaacial loooooooony biiiiiiiiiiin!" |
Enestrie sings:
"You're a mean one, Hal-line You really are a heel You're as cuddly as a bramble, you're as charming as an eel, Hal-line You're a sour woman with a broken high heel!" Enestrie claps her hands 3 times in a jaunty beat. Enestrie sings: "You're a monster, Mr. Rhet Your heart's an empty hole Your brain is full of splinters, you've got tree bark in your soul, Mr. Rhet I wouldn't touch you with a 10X enchanted vultite pole!" Enestrie looks around the room and encourages you to clap along, clapping her hands 3 times in a jaunty beat A slow, pulsing rhythm unwinds as Dwi plays her tambourine. Enestrie sings: "You're vile ones, Halline and Rhet With scarabs in your smiles You have all the tender sweetness of a Thurfel's keep crocodile Hal-Rhet To choose between the lot of you I'd take the Thurfel's keep crocodile!" Enestrie claps her hands in double time: Clap Clap! Clap Clap! Clap Clap! Enestrie sings: "You're foul ones, Adventurer's Guilds! Nasty-wasty skunks! With hearts full of unwashed socks and gunk, Adventurer's Guilds! The three words that best describe you all and I quote: Stink, Stank, Stunk!" Swaying slightly, Dwi creates a slow, calm heartbeat with her tambourine as she taps it with her hand. You belt out, "Stink! Stank! Stunk!" Dwi heartily exclaims, "Stink Stank Stunk!" Enestrie claps in a staccato: Clap Clap Clap! Clap Clap Clap! Clap Clap Clap! Enestrie sings: "Your souls are goners, Hal-Rhet You're the royal rulers of sin and snot Your souls are dreadfully dead and dis-grace-ful but it is not too late, Hal-Rhet! Discard your rubbish demands, have a date, a flask, give adventurers easier tasks- and let us find you mangled and tangled in a lover's knot!" A slow, pulsing rhythm unwinds as Dwi plays her tambourine. (Enestrie takes a deep breath and curtsies low.) Selaesia recites loudly:
"This is the tale of Old Rolton Rick." Selaesia just opened an enruned leather-bound tome. Selaesia clears her throat. Selaesia recites: "'Twas the night before Thrakmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse The stockings were hung by the bonfire with care, In hopes that more presents soon would be there." Dwi softly shakes her tambourine, starting a gentle and lulling rhythm. Selaesia moistens her fingertip with her tongue and slowly turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "The halflings were nestled all snug in their beds While visions of sugar-tarts danced in their heads And me in my 'kerchief, and Brokk in his cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap," Selaesia rubs her forest green kerchief. Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "When out on the snowfields there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the tower I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash." Selaesia presses a hand to her chest, inhaling and exhaling slowly. Dwi taps out a gentle beat with deft wrists, rocking slightly with her tambourine's music. Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave a lustre of midday to objects below, When what to my wondering eyes did appear, But a festive wee rolton and eight polar bears." Selaesia moistens her fingertip with her tongue and slowly turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "With a little old rolton so lively and quick, I knew in a moment he must be Rolton Rick. More rapid than eagles his eight bears they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:" Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: ""Now, Dorcas! now, Danger! now Ranger and Dixon! On, Rocket! on, Rufus! on, Donnie and Nixon! To the top of the South Gate! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"" A peaceful, flowing rhythm surrounds you as Dwi's supple wrists manipulate her instrument, drawing forth the soft beat. Selaesia moistens her fingertip with her tongue and slowly turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "As leaves that before the wild snowstorms fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the tower top the bears they flew With the sleigh full of toys, and Rolton Rick too-" Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The scuffling sounds of that old rolton's hoof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney Rolton Rick came with a bound." Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Dwi taps out a gentle beat with deft wrists, rocking slightly with her tambourine's music. Selaesia recites: "He was dressed all in red, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack." Selaesia moistens her fingertip with her tongue and slowly turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "His eyes-how they twinkled! his fur, how smelly! His teeth were all crooked, his nose was all runny! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the fur on his frame was not white as the snow" Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "The stump of a pipe was wedged in his teeth, And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a pinched face and a little round belly That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly." A peaceful, flowing rhythm surrounds you as Dwi's supple wrists manipulate her instrument, drawing forth the soft beat. Selaesia moistens her fingertip with her tongue and slowly turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "He was chubby yet scrawny, contradicting himself, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread." Selaesia lets out a sigh of relief. Selaesia turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk, And wiping the snot with his sleeve from his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose." Dwi taps out a gentle beat with deft wrists, rocking slightly with her tambourine's music. Selaesia moistens her fingertip with her tongue and slowly turns a page of her leather-bound tome. Selaesia recites: "He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him bleat, ere he drove out of sight- "Happy Thrakmas to all, and to all a good night!"" As the last whispered note fades from the stilled air, Dwi slowly smiles and puts her hand over her tambourine, bowing with a flourish. Selaesia beams! Selaesia recites: "And that, my friends, is the tale of Old Rolton Rick." |
